TIM BREWER, Attorney - Of Counsel

Tim Brewer shares our law office building and brings important legal expertise to his work with Nonprofit Support Services. His law practice focuses primarily on mediation, estate planning, and adoption law. As a trained and experienced mediator, Tim is available to help our nonprofit clients resolve their disputes via a neutral, expedient, inexpensive, and mutually satisfactory process. Tim is the vice president of Community Mediation Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Eugene, Oregon, dedicated to the peaceful resolution of disputes, where he also frequently volunteers. Tim's expertise in trusts and estates has helped our nonprofit clients and their donors with planned giving. As an adoption attorney, Tim has represented birth parents, adoptive parents, and adoption agencies. He acts as general legal counsel to a number of nonprofit adoption agencies, including Holt International Children's Services, Inc., PLAN Loving Adoptions Now, and Associated Services for Intercountry Adoption. Tim is licensed in Oregon, Washington, and California, and is a member of several state, local, and national professional and bar associations, including the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys. LYNETTE WILLIAMS, Associate Director

Lynette works closely with David on issues involving the Federal Internal Revenue Service, including the preparation of applications for Tax Exempt Status, calculating public support test, petitions for a waiver of 990 late-filing penalties, responses to IRS questions, assistance to clients being audited by the IRS, and similar federal matters, as well as applications for local property tax exemption. Lynette is a graduate of the University of Oregon with a BA in English and a Certificate of Paralegal Studies from San Jose State University. She has been working with Nonprofit Support Service for almost 12 years, and during that time she has been involved with almost every aspect of our law office and our work for our clients. Lynette and her husband Ron have a grown daughter and a new granddaughter. In her spare time Lynette works with her mother, father and sister in the family antique business in Brownsville.

ELIZABETH ALBRECHT, Client Support Coordinator

Elizabeth works closely with David on everything involved in the initial establishment of nonprofit organizations, including helping with Articles of Incorporation, the preparation of Bylaws, the registration of new organizations with the Oregon Department of Justice, annual reports at the State level, the annual renewal of corporate status, and similar matters. Elizabeth coordinates the work on the "New Nonprofit Corporation" package of services, and she oversees the office calendar and scheduling of David's meetings and work. Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Oregon and has worked for several well established nonprofit organizations before she came to Nonprofit Support Services. Consequently she has a good understanding of the issues and challenges faced by nonprofit organizations. Elizabeth grew up in Eugene and is pleased to be raising her young daughter here. She loves the outdoors and attending local festivals and events.

OUR OFFICE CLERKS

We always have one or two office clerks who work with us part-time as interns, to get experience working in a law office for academic credit. They help us answer the phones, schedule meetings with clients, and help with our document preparation, copying, mailing and filing.
